CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The North Gwinnett Co-Op depends on the support of our volunteers. Your time is a gift to hungry kids, seniors, and families who do not have enough to eat. We need volunteers every day to help sort and pack food & thrift store donations, as well as assist with special events and administrative support. When you donate your time to the North Gwinnett Co-Op, you become a partner in the fight against hunger in your community.

Things to know before you sign up to volunteer:

  • Volunteers must be a minimum age of 10 years old. Children 15 and younger must be supervised by a parent/guardian.
  • The posted volunteer shifts are NOT ELIGIBLE for court-appointed community service hours. If you are seeking court ordered community service hours – please see below. We will only validate school-related community service hours.
  • Volunteer assignments may change, so please be flexible. You may be asked to assist in the store or pantry area, depending on needs at the time.
  • We ask that volunteers dress comfortably and wear closed-toe shoes. We suggest comfortable shoes as our floors are concrete.
  • Volunteer shifts require standing, lifting, and moving products.
  • Due to high demand, we request that you do not sign up for more than one shift a month.
    Liability Note: The North Gwinnett Co-Op assumes no liability for an injury or death of an individual entering these premises are assuming this risk by entering these premises.</p>

SOME BUDDY
PROGRAM

The goal of the Some Buddy Program is to connect isolated senior citizens living in the Co-Op’s service area with caring volunteers.

Often our Seniors feel overwhelming sadness and isolation due to health problems and daily responsibilities. Friendly visits are essential in reminding our Seniors they are not alone and are never forgotten. Your gift of time and presence is a gift to our seniors and their loved ones.

Court Ordered Community Service:

The North Gwinnett Co-Op does not offer court-ordered community service hours. Only school-related community service hours will be verified.

We also have a volunteer opportunity available that community members of all ages can participate in from home.:

Stay-At-Home Volunteer Opportunity – Write A Note To A Family in Need: North Gwinnett Co-Op is collecting notes of encouragement for families who are struggling during the COIVD-19 crisis. The notes will be included in boxes of emergency food that are distributed across our service area. This is a simple but meaningful way for our community to stay connected and encourage one another during this difficult time. To participate, simply write a handwritten response to one of the prompts below.

  • Prompt 1: Write down your favorite scripture or prayer and include a drawing that illustrates your scripture or prayer.
  • Prompt 2: Write a note of encouragement and illustrate it with an image that symbolizes hope for you, like a rainbow or sunrise.

**Please sign the note with your first name(s) only.

You can mail your notes to The North Gwinnett Co-Op, or come by and leave the notes in a drop box located at the back of the Co-Op during office hours (Monday Noon-8pm, Wednesday-Friday 10-4, Saturday 10am-4pm).
