Beginning January of this year, our clients were able to select food items they need–and/or would like — verses receiving a pre-packaged bag of food as we have done in the past. Our clients VERY MUCH enjoy & appreciate being able to select their own food items (for example, strawberry jelly vs grape jelly.) This system also allows the Co-Op to not waste unwanted food!
With this said, we have “discovered” quite a few items that are preferred and fly off our shelves; therefore, our Current Needs list might look a little different but we are SO GRATEFUL for the communities at large interested in helping us fill our shelves with specific items. Hygiene items are not covered by food stamps, thus being a luxury. We give out paper towels & toilet paper to all of our clients.
