The North Gwinnett Co-Op depends on the support of our volunteers. Your time is a gift to hungry kids, seniors, and families who do not have enough to eat. We need volunteers every day to help sort and pack food & thrift store donations, as well as assist with special events and administrative support. When you donate your time to the North Gwinnett Co-Op, you become a partner in the fight against hunger in your community.
Things to know before you sign up to volunteer:
1. Volunteers must be a minimum age of 10 years old. Children 15 and younger must be supervised by a parent/guardian.
2. The posted volunteer shifts are NOT ELIGIBLE for court-appointed community service hours. If you are seeking court ordered community service hours – please see below. We will only validate school-related community service hours.
3. Volunteer assignments may change, so please be flexible. You may be asked to assist in the store or pantry area, depending on needs at the time.
4. We ask that volunteers dress comfortably and wear closed-toe shoes. We suggest comfortable shoes as our floors are concrete.
5. Volunteer shifts require standing, lifting, and moving products. If you have any limitations in these areas, please discuss other options with Kristen Mullin, Assistant Director, kmullin@ngcoop.org.
6. Due to high demand, we request that you do not sign up for more than one shift per Saturday a month.
WORK GROUPS – Groups over 5 individuals, please contact Kristen Mullin, Assistant Director, kmullin@ngcoop.org, to schedule your group.
WEEKLY VOLUNTEER – Are you interested in working one shift a week? If you are looking for a weekly commitment, please contact Kristen Mullin, Assistant Director, kmullin@ngcoop.org, for more details.
The goal of the Some Buddy Program is to connect isolated senior citizens living in the Co-Op’s service area with caring volunteers.
Often our senior feel overwhelming sadness and isolation due to health problems and daily responsibilities. Friendly visits are essential in reminding our senior they are not alone and are never forgotten. Your gift of time and presence is a gift to our seniors and their loved ones.
For more information about the Some Buddy Program, contact Kristen Mullin at kmullin@ngcoop.org
