The North Gwinnett Co-Op services hundreds of people every month with the need for services growing substantially every year. Our current building houses the location for our food pantry with weekly bread/dessert giveaways, small multi-use offices used host private meetings with our clients to understand and partner with additional needs, a modest area for the “Second Blessings” thrift store with an area to sort and organize donations, and a small multi-use classroom in the attic to offer school-age tutoring and adult resume classes. To say the building is “crowded”– with every inch of our building being used—is an understatement, but a blessing to be able to help so many in need.
The reasons for the capital campaign are:
At this time, we have been able to purchase the building next door debt free. Construction bids are due late November with plans to begin construction in January 2019. Projection is for the newly renovated space to be available to move in Fall 2019.
Plans have been designed and donated. Decorators are ready to assist with the paint color and overall ‘look’ at no charge. The excitement of our weekly volunteers and clients is beginning to buzz. The Co-Op board and staff cannot wait for a new expanded building allowing us to better serve our community.
